Today they spent time finishing the soffits in the basement. The plumbers continued to work in preparation for inspections tomorrow. The existing electrical panel was temporarily moved to make room for the new service to be mounted (box, meter, etc). And of course, our brick layers continued working diligently. The brick on the north wall is now above the windows, and they hope to finish the north wall tomorrow... maybe Friday.

Today the big project was grading out the extra fill dirt to make room for additional parking. They knocked down the mounds of dirt, graded, & packed it for a future parking lot. This will not only provide needed parking spots, but it will also put more parking near the picnic shelter for those who have a difficult time walking across the yard.
The brick continued to go up on the north side of the addition. They also began building soffits in the basement to house duct work. They also welded a reinforcing plate the steel I-beam so that a hole could be drilled through the beam to accommodate plumbing.

Today was mostly spent cleaning up the work site in preparation for our Sunday services. A few small jobs were done, such as caulking around the cement slab at the back door, cleaning up the foyer for Sunday, and boarding up the elevator shaft for our Sunday toddlers (and middle schoolers).
The brick continued to go up, and they seem to be making good progress. They think the north end of the building should be completed by mid-week next week. And they began grading out the huge piles of dirt to allow for expanded parking.
We think you'll enjoy the opportunity to walk through the new addition on Sunday. We're going to label each room to help you get a sense of what the new ministry space will be like.

The foyer is wide open! After installing the main supporting beam in the attic rafters, the supporting wall (and temporary walls) were removed today. The new foyer is nice and big!
They also continued trenching for the new electrical & sewer services, as well as working on plumbing and HVAC. Columbia Gas was out to repair the gas line, and the guys were able to begin bricking the north wall of the addition.
