What form of government does North HILLS Church operate under?

We are considered a Congregational Church. That means the authority to make major decisions rests with the entire membership of the church. Those decisions include the buying & selling of property, the hiring & firing of staff, and adopting the annual budget.

The regular operations of the church are directed by a Church Board and the spiritual direction of the church are guided by a Board of Elders. One way to describe the role of government at North Hills is that we are guarded by the elders, guided by the Board, and gifted through the membership.

The elders function primarily as discerners and guardians of the organization. They function as overseers for the entire organization. The elders evaluate the effectiveness and direction of the organization according to the church's mission, resources, and doctrine.

The Board is responsible to oversee all financial & business matters. The Board is comprised of various ministry leaders as named in the Constitution.

The pastors work with volunteer ministry staff to fulfill the mission of the church. The senior pastor, along with volunteer mnistry leaders, determine programming, give vision to the various ministries of the organization, and oversee the day-to-day operations.
